About

Me, John Stevenson,
aka sirinkman, j.edward [on the Guild]

Mapmaker, illustrator, and imaginer of worlds
Yes, yes. Those things are certainly true, and I do spend a lot of time at those tasks. I truly am passionate about them. But one thing has been with me through the ages of my life.

Telling stories. Even if they are just little tales. Perhaps just a smidgeon of backstory about where a castle resides or who the rugged folk are that ramble through the woodlands and crags of this map or that. Still, I am compelled to write these tales and fragments of story.

I had never trained actively to become a writer and so my work is perhaps at best that of an amateur hobbyist, but that's ok. I enjoy it. And some fans of my illustration seemed to as well, and asked me if I would be creating any larger works, or collections. Perhaps a book.

That gentle prodding has helped me to get moving, if slowly. And that has finally lead me here. To my first blog, where I intend to drop some of the little tales I have been holding on to. Some for years, but many are new and growing.

So in my typical round-about meandering fashion, I am a mapmaker and illustrator who enjoys writing and imaging other worlds. I used to be a brash skate-punk and woodworker, a night-clubber and late night wanderer. But I'm a lot more mundane these days. Working very long hours on weird and wonderful worlds that never were. Or perhaps have always been, but are just out of reach for the mind-numbed dawntreaders that amble the daylight terrains.

Other assorted facts and nonsense about this blogger....
I like strong coffee, strong tea, strong drinks in general. Stout, porter, ale, if I partake, which is much less these days. I like earthy colors, but I'm trying to diversify. I'll revisit this page after some time and reflection.

If you're interested in supporting my work, be that map, illustration, or the writing on this blog, you can find ways to do that on my contact page. I appreciate it. :)
